Regret | Psychonauts 2 Enemy [WIP Post]

ABOUT THE ENEMY
Regrets are recurring enemies that appear in nearly every mental world of Psychonauts 2. They are sickly, fairy-like figures with wide, flat heads and long, lanky arms, and they carry large metal weights labeled “Regret.” They drop these weights on Raz, creating a shockwave, and the more regrets someone has, the more often they show up. The Deep Regret is the stronger, evolved version, tied to deeper feelings of sadness and guilt. It drops larger shock bombs with a wider blast radius, and it shows up in more traumatic parts of the minds.
MY PROCESS
Regrets started out as Doubts. Later on, the two enemies switched names, because each name matched the other’s design and personality in the game better.
Regrets would drop their weights, and later on we made a stronger version of it, called Deep Regret.
I made this model based on Gigi’s concept art. I worked with the VFX artist to create an iridescent shader for it, which gives it the bug-like material you see on it in the game.
